Tripoli, 6 November:
The new government of Prime Minister Ali Zeidan will be formally inaugurated at a ceremony at the . . .[restrict]General National Congress on Wednesday, 14 November, according to an announcement on Congress’s Facebook page.
It added that those members of the government whose suitability for office was being investigated by the Integrity Commission would not take part in the oath-taking.
There have been demonstrations against six ministers who are alleged to have had compromising links with the Qaddafi regime with protestors demanding they be replaced. They are: Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Al-Aujali, Justice Minister Salah Bashir Margani, Interior Minister Ashour Suleiman Shuwail, Health Minister Nurideen Abdulhamid Dagman, Culture Minister Habib Mohammed Al-Amin and Religious Affairs Minister Abdulsalam Mohammed Abusaad.
Sources at the Commission, however, say that all ministers are being assessed and that a lack of paperwork has delayed decisions.
It was being widely rumoured in Tripoli today that Aujli, Abusaad and a third minister not the subject of protests would fail Integrity Commission vetting.
Meanwhile, the resignation from the cabinet of Sami Al-Saadi who was nominated for the Martyrs and Missing Persons portfolio is said to have now been received by Ali Zeidan. Saadi, founder of the Al-Umma Al-Wasat party, had announced his resignation on his Facebook page yesterday but earlier today sources close to Zeidan’s office said that no letter of resignation had been received.
