Tripoli, 2 March 2013:

Prime Ali Zeidan confirmed that in his forthcoming visit to the UN he will seek the lifting . . .[restrict]of the arms embargo imposed on Libya.

Asked by the press at Thursday’s press conference if he had got such assurances at the recent friends of Libya conference in Paris, Zeidan responded that “If we keep to our commitments I am sure it will be lifted. We are able by written request to ask for the embargo to be lifted”, he confirmed.

Quizzed again by the press about criticism of him from some members of the GNC regarding lack of consultation prior to the Paris conference, Zeidan explained that “the Paris conference was organized last year before he took office in the framework to aid and support Libya and its security”.
