Tripoli airport attackers sentenced

Tripoli, 22 March 2013:
Seven men found guilty of the attack last year on Tripoli International Airport were each handed prison sentences of two and a half years by Tripoli Military Court yesterday, Thursday.
Twelve others involved in the attack who are still being sought were sentenced in absentia to five years in jail.
On 4 June, last year, 200 members of Tarhouna’s Al-Awfia brigade seized control of the aiport in retaliation for the abduction of its commander, Abu-Alija Habshi, the previous day. After sporadic clashes that lasted less than an hour, the Awfeya Brigade surrendered to the Union of the Revolutionaries of Tripoli.
In the immediate aftermath, 172 Al-Awfia brigadesmen and others from Tarhouna were arrested.
The trial started on 28 August last year
