Extradited Qaddafi regime figures flown into Tripoli

Ali Mohamed Marya and Mohamed Ibrahim Mansour arrived at Mitiga airport on a private plane
Tripoli, 26 March 2013:
Two leading Qaddafi-era officials, the former Libyan ambassador to Egypt Ali Mohamed Marya and Mohamed Ibrahim Mansour, who was a senior finance official, were extradited today, Tuesday, from Egypt to Tripoli.
The pair arrived at Mitiga Airport on a private jet and were sent to Al-Hadba prison in Tripoli, according the prison administration. They were accompanied by a delegation that included four Libyans, headed by Taha Nasser Barh, the assistant spokesperson of the Attorney General.
Marya and Mansour were arrested in Cairo on 19 March at the request of the Libyan branch of Interpol. The defendants will stand trial on charges of corruption.
Mansour is the brother of former spokesperson of regime, Musa Ibrahim. Married to a German, Ibrahim is now said to be living in Germany.
The move came after the completion of necessary legal requirements to extradite the former regime officials. This followed the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding between Egypt and Libya’s justice ministers and prosecutors-general.
Qaddafi’s cousin and former coordinator of Libyan-Egyptian relations, Ahmed Qaddaf Al-Dam, was also arrested on 19 March at the request of Libya, where he faces corruption charges. It is expected that Qaddaf Al-Dam will be handed over to the Libyan authorities at a later date.
