Speaking at yesterday’s press conference at the Prime Minister’s office, Deputy Head of the GNC Salah . . .[restrict]Makhzoum confirmed that the GNC had met on Thursday with Prime Minister Ali Zeidan and the “relevant” ministers on Sunday morning.
Makhzoum stressed that Zeidan’s government was chosen by the GNC and that the GNC was chosen by the Libyan public.
He pointed out, with reference to the armed militias that were surrounding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the delay in the implementation of the Political Isolation Law (Law 41) by the GNC was as a result of normal process.
The Deputy GNC Head pointed out that the law was passed in principle and that the political groups were given 13 days to agree the details.
“We gave them time to reach consensus”, he added, and that “If this was the reason (for the armed militias surrounding the Foreign Ministry)..we have kept to our procedure”.
Makhzoum then moved on to the law for demonstrations (Law 65).”Law 65 defines demonstrations as being unarmed and after informing, and not even getting permission, from the Security Directorate.”
“Today, we saw two different demonstrations. One legally held in front of the GNC for the South of Libya – a civilized demonstration asking for the removal of the Military leader of the South. We have asked the government to look into this.”
