The 10th Libyan Healthcare Exhibition 2013 expecting 500 exhibitors

By Sami Zaptia.

Tripoli, 30 . . .[restrict]July 2013:

With only 40 days until the opening day of the 10th Libyan Healthcare Exhibition 2013, to be held from 10-12 September at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds, organizers say that they are expecting a large turnout.

The exhibition, covering 10,000 square metres, is supported by the Ministry of Health and is considered the biggest annual heath event in Libya.

Organizers, Waha Expo, told Libya Herald that they anticipate over 500 exhibitors from 32 countries, including from Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, USA, Egypt, Tunisia, Greece and Korea. These will include the world’s leading manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors. There are six country pavilions.

They also expect 3000 – 4000 visitors per day from more than 20 countries. The exhibition also includes workshops and commercial presentations and social programs during the show which will include the presentation of 200 scientific papers.

Of equal importance, say the organisers, is the access made available to exhibitors through the exhibition to the Libyan Ministry of Health officials and decision-makers on future health policy-making and spending.

The healthcare exhibition is considered a very important contributor to Libya’s rebuilding and development in view of the poor standard of the Libyan healthcare system.

After the February 17th Revolution, the expectations of Libyans of the living standards that they require and the kind of health service they should enjoy have risen immensely. And there is great pressure on the government to spend and improve the health system urgently.

On the one hand, the state is expected to invest heavily, in the billions, in order to upgrade the old dilapidated system and provide a healthcare system that is appropriate for a country of Libya’s GDP in 2013. This includes infrastructure and equipment spending, as well as on human resource training, knowledge transfer and upgrades.

Equally, under the new Libya, the private sector is expected to expand at great speed now that it is free to play its full role in the new free market enterprise Libyan economy. The number and quality of private sector clinics is expected to increase and improve on a par to peer and neighbouring states such as Jordan, Tunisia and the UAE.

Organisers say that the areas that the exhibition will be expected to cover, will include:

Cosmetics and plastic surgery / nutritional products / pharmaceuticals / Radiotherapy devices / Emergency, Rescue & First Aid equipment / Medical laboratories / The pharmaceutical industry / Alternative Medicine / Public health services / Medical supplies / Universities / specialized institutes and research centers / Medical Home Healthcare / Hospital and clinic equipment /

Micro surgery and Laparoscopic surgery \ Laser equipment / Mental Health / Training, medical and scientific books / Intensive Care Medicine / Communication equipments & mobile hospitals / Emergency Medicine / Health Insurance / Pediatrics / Mother care products / Hospital Management Systems / Medical clothing and medical furniture / Physiotherapy equipment / X-ray equipment and material / Medical, Surgical, Hospital & Lab. Products / Anesthesia / Prosthetic Limbs / Chemicals / Nursing services and Design and construction of   hospitals, clinics and medical centers.
