British ambassador Michael Aron introduces the Chevening scholarship awards

Tripoli, 19 August 2013:

The British Ambassador, Michael Aron yesterday held a reception for the six scholars who were awarded Chevening scholarships . . .[restrict]to British universities..

Ministers, senior representatives from the ministries of Higher Education, Culture and Foreign Affairs, along with guests from the GNC and the universities of Tripoli and Benghazi gathered in the gardens of  the former ambassadorial residence in Fashloum and watched Aron present the successful candidates with their certificates.

The Chevening programme is the UK government’s global scholarship scheme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organisations.  It gives potential leaders  UK university places and funding, with the object of creating lasting positive relationships with future leaders, influencers and decision-makers.

The six  Libyan scholars, including two women, are due to study for a variety of degrees covering Cross-Cultural Communication and Media Studies, Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, Business Management, Project Management and Environment and Public Policy.
