A dawn raid by gunman on a farm project north of Kufra saw one manager kidnapped, . . .[restrict]but at least five attackers killed, when an army unit attacked the attackers.
Details remain confused but, according to Khamis Idreess, executive manager of the Northern Agriculture project at Al-Sarir, 18 vehicles with heavily-armed men opened fire on the camp at around 5am. Serious damage was done to the premises, Idreess told the Libya Herald. The gunmen then broke into the buildings, rounded up the employees and began to interrogate them. At this point it appears that Adem Auji the head of the animal production department was kidnapped. The attackers are said to have brought empty trucks with them which were loaded with property.
At some point now, guards from the 25 Brigade of the National Army arrived on the scene. The force has the job of guarding the Al-Sarir and Messla oil fields as well as a Al-Shula oil compound and the Al-Sarir agricultural project.
Saleh Mohmmed, a senior brigade officer said “We confronted the attackers and burned several of their vehicles, captured one man and killed five more. ” Mohammed said that his men pursued the attackers for some distance before surviving gunmen succeeded in fleeing into the Jakharra oasis and towards Tazerbu.
