An Air Force Colonel was assassinated today and a local businessman shot dead in two separate incidents in . . .[restrict]Derna.
Colonel Ashour Muftah Rabia was shot as he drove through Derna’s agricultural area on his way to the airbase in Martuba, some 25 km outside the town, according to Libyan news agency LANA.
Al-Harish hospital in Derna also received a second body today, that of Abdulraouf Abdulmajeed Bel-Hula. Medical staff at the hospital said he was a businessman who owned a shop in downtown Derna selling construction materials. Bel-Hula had been shot on the Corniche Road. Although a businessman, it is reported that he had previously been an officer. [/restrict]
