Tripoli, 14 April 2014:
The President of the General National Congress (GNC) Nuri Abu Sahmain is undergoing medical tests abroad.
He will be . . .[restrict]away for a week, according to the GNC website. It is not known where he is undergoing these tests or for what illness or condition.
There is speculation that this is a “diplomatic illness.” Abu Sahmain is under pressure to resign over a leaked video confession that revealed that he lied about an incident earlier in the year when two women visited him at his Tripoli home.
Congress is also confronted with trying to appoint a new Prime Minister following the resignation of Abdullah Al-Thinni just days after his appointment. [/restrict]
