Tripoli, 18 April 2014:
Retaj Al-Faituri who was kidnapped near her home in Tripoli’s Dahmani area on Monday evening has . . .[restrict]been returned to her family.
A neighbour told the Libya Herald that Faituri had been found abandoned on Al-Shat road on Thursday and taken to hospital.
According to the Libyan news agency LANA the young woman was taken to Tripoli Central Hospital where she was treated for shock but otherwise found to be in good health. LANA also reports that her kidnappers have been apprehended.
Faituri’s abduction sparked spontaneous protests in the capital on Tuesday when postal workers, colleagues of her sister, demonstrated outside the offices of Tripoli Local Council against the general deterioration of security across the country.
A member of the council’s security team was dismissed after he fired warning shots during the protests in efforts to subdue the crowd. [/restrict]
