Benghazi, 27 April 2014:
The daily occurrence of violence has continued in Benghazi with the discovery of the body of . . .[restrict]a murdered woman, the attempted killing of a security official and a large explosion in the early hours of this morning.
Benghazi Joint Security Room spokesman Ibrahim Al-Sharaa told the Libya Herald that the body of Benghazi resident Salma Al-Mahdi Abdullah Al-Aga was found on the coastal road in Ras Al-Mingar yesterday. A source at Benghazi Medical Centre, speaking on condition of anonymity, said she had been killed by a single shot to the head.
Also yesterday, unknown gunmen made an attempt on the life of a Saiqa Special Forces investigator. The man, known to the Libya Herald but whose name is being withheld for security reasons, was injured in the attack in the Sidi Khalifa area but is said to be in a stable condition. He has been taken to a Benghazi hospital.
In the early hours of this morning a large explosion destroyed between four or five cars and smashed the windows of nearby houses on Istiqlal Street, formerly Jamal Abdul Nasser Street. Sharaa said the blast, which could be heard for miles around, was caused by a 7-8 kilogramme bomb placed under a car. No one was harmed in the attack. [/restrict]
