Tripoli, 28 April 2014:
Prime Minister Al-Thinni has said that the kidnapped Jordanian ambassador Fawwaz Al-Eitan and two Tunisian diplomats . . .[restrict]are all in good health and that efforts are still underway to secure their release.
He made the comment after seeing video footage of the three men, according to Libyan news agency LANA. This footage would later be circulated more widely, Thinni added.
The government was in communication with kidnappers, he said, and was working on a peaceful outcome which would see the three men released from captivity. One of the men, the Tunisian ambassador’s secretary Mohamed Ben Cheikh, has been held for over a month.
“We do not want use force against the kidnappers, we want to reach peaceful solutions,” he said.
He said that high-level talks were ongoing, although he could not disclose the nature of these. [/restrict]
