Tripoli, 28 April 2014:

Preliminarily results from the Constituent Assembly election re-runs on Saturday in Murzuk and Kufra have been . . .[restrict]disclosed by local officials in the two places although nothing has yet been officially declared by the High National Elections Commission (HNEC).

In the general list in Murzuk, Mohammed Abdusslam Al-Agha is leading the count, HNEC’s local media coordinator, Ibraheem Kouri Seedi, told the Libya Herald today. However, the results in Traghen and Qatrun were still unknown, he added, and could change the outcome.

As to the Tebu ethnic minority seat in the area, “preliminarily results suggest that Khaled Wahli and Saleh Gauma are the two with best chance of winning,” he said.

In the Kufra seat reserved for a Tebu member, Al-Sanussi Hamed Wahli, a Tebu from Ajdabiya, was widely expected to win, according to local political observer Fathi Hassan. Of the six candidates standing in area, “he is expected to win the seat”, Hassan said.

Formal results are expected later this week. [/restrict]
