Tripoli, 14 May 2014:
Italian company Servizio Trasporti Combinati (STC) will be debuting at Libya Build 2014, announcing a . . .[restrict]new courier transportation service in Libya. The Groupage transport service to and from Libya will the first of its kind here, offering door-to-door delivery of goods with guaranteed delivery, management of customs duties and direct assistance on site.
According to STC’s press release this is “an opportunity for small and medium firms to develop their target markets in the Libyan market” because it allows “small quantities of goods that would not be sufficient to fill a container to be shipped by purchasing space—from 1 to 105 cubic metres”—on a container. The Groupage service also allows for the transport of dangerous goods and out-of-gauge cargo.
Using a truck-cargo ship-truck system and a fleet of over 650 trailers, STC is guaranteeing 6-day transit time between warehouses in Genoa, Paris or Marseilles and the branch office in Tripoli, in partnership with Tarabulus Shipping Agency. Goods will first be unloaded in Tunis and then proceed by road to Tripoli. From there STC can dispatch goods to all major Libyan towns.
The Genoa-based STC has been operating in North Africa since 1981 and boasts a deep knowledge of the territory. The company states that it can assist its customers with “the entire process of customs clearance.” It sees Libya as a dynamic and growing business sector and looks to “consolidate its leadership in the intermodal transport market in Libya” and all of the Maghreb.
