The Benghazi Refugee Crisis Committee in Ajdabiya has announced that it is preparing to receive . . .[restrict]and accommodate Benghazi families in case they decide to flee the on-going armed clashes in the city.
“We have started to make preparations to receive families who are fleeing the violence in Benghazi,” head of the refugee committee and civil society activist, Abdilbaset Al-Nazal, told the Libya Herald.
The on-going violence in Benghazi is forcing families to flee to safer places. Random missiles have reportedly fallen on civilian homes, causing serious injuries and even death.
“Families are expected to start arriving today, most of them coming from places where the violence is most prevalent, such as Al-Gwarsha and Sidi Faraj,” explained Nazal.
So far, however, there appears to be no take-up for Ajdabiya’s offers of help.
The offer a “thank-you”. During the revolution, Benghazi took in refugees from Ajdabiya as Qaddafi’s “Holy March” approached the town.
“We call upon people and civil society to contribute their time and money to our efforts to help the refugees,” added Nazal. [/restrict]
