Turkish Airlines boosts Libya services to two daily passenger flights

Turkish Airlines has boosted its Libya passenger services and is now operating two daily flights between Istanbul and Misrata.

The additional daily service was launched last week and a spokesperson for Turkish Airlines told the Libya Herald that it planned to continue offering the extra flight throughout its winter 2014-15 schedule.

Depending on the demand, Turkish Airlines currently has four different aircraft available for its Libya services, with most flights operated with either an Airbus A330 or A340.

This extra daily flight offers further evidence that Turkish Airlines is reaping the rewards of flying where others dare not go, with other international carriers either reluctant or unable to restart their Libya operations.

“Everything is going normally [at Misrata] and there have been no problems or inconveniences that have prevented our operations,” the spokesman said.

There has been no further progress with regard to the company starting operations to Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport, however and Turkish Airlines have still not made any definite decisions about the viability of flying to other Libyan destinations, he said. [/restrict]
