Tripoli, 5 February 2015: Psychosocial support will start for internally displaced (IDP) Libyan children later this month, UNICEF has . . .[restrict]announced. The organisation has agreed with the Taher Azzawi Charity Organisation to start providing services to children between six and 18 years of age in the IDP camps around Tripoli immediately. Agreements are already in hand with other NGOs. These are expected to be signed shortly offering support in Sabratha, Bani Waleed and Surman, said UNICEF communication specialist Mostafa Omar. Staff will be sent to the Ganzour, Al-Falah, the Airport Road and the Tourist Village camps, where child-friendly spaces have been set up by the Taher Azzawi Charity Organisation and equipped with toys and games by UNICEF. The camps, which were orginally established for workers in the construction sector, are currently being used to house approximately 1,400 families as well as sod 9,000 individuals. According to Omar, the majority of the IDPs are either from the Tawergha tribe or from Kikla. [/restrict]
