Benghazi, 13 April 2015:

Jordan’s King Abdullah II has reiterated his country’s determination to help Libya fight terrorism by . . .[restrict]providing military support, both in terms of training and reorganising the Libyan armed forces, and other ways.

According to a statement from the Royal Jordanian Court following talks today between the King and the head of the Libyan armed forces, General Khalifa Hafter, who is currently in the country for talks of Jordanioan-Libyan military cooperation, “His Majesty stressed Jordan’s continued support to Libya in its efforts to restore security and stability in the country to confront terrorist organisations that threaten the unity of Libya and its people”.

The situation in Libya was the main subject of the discussions, the statement said, together with the ways Jordan could help fight terrorist organisations in the country.

Hafter was accompanied in his talks with the Jordanian monarch by the head of the Libyan Air Force, Air Force Brigadier-General Saqr Adam Geroushi.

Later, Hafter had talks on specific aspects of military coordination with the Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mashal Mohammad Al-Zabin and other military officials as well as the King’s Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein, the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces. The talks focused particularly on Jordan’s role in rebuilding the Libyan armed forces.

Also attending the talks were Geroushi, as well as the head of the Libyan army, Brigadier General Omar Saleh Musmari, and Navy chief Commodore Faraj Mohamed Al Mahduwi.
