Tunis, 22 April 2015:

‘‘Where there is development there is security’’, Libya’s Economy and Industry Minister Munir Aser said, . . .[restrict]adding that his government is seeking development through investment and through free zones.

Aser added that some might say that conditions in Libya are not right for development or for investment, but that he has a contrary philosophy to that view.

The Minister confirmed that his government is preparing for an investment conference in which all of Libya’s capabilities and investment opportunities will be revealed.

The Minister did not reveal where or when this Libya investment conference will be held, but it is believed that it will be in Cairo.

‘‘Libya is not just war. There are many assets and capabilities in Libya too’’, stressed the Minister.

Minister Aser revealed that last week the Tobruk Industrial Zone was approved which will be located close to the Egyptian border where he hopes large factories can be set up.

There is work being done on the Bomba Gulf Zone and the Emsaed Free Zone as well as an oil investment zone in Benghazi when the security situation stabilizes.

The Minister, speaking at Monday’s government press conference in Beida, stressed that Libya was looking for ‘‘real development partners’’ in order to join in exploiting Libya’s capabilities.

He said that this point was stressed during his recent meeting with Russian business leaders in Moscow. [/restrict]
