Application forms arriving at the Central Bank

Tripoli, March 29: The Central Bank of Libya is to start the process of paying out the one-off payment to all families of LD 2,000 as of April 2.

To celebrate the first anniversary of the 17 February Revolution, the NTC passed Law No. 10 authorising the bank to distribute LD 2000 to every Libyan husband and wife and LD 200 for every unmarried member of the family listed in their Family Identity Book.

It has taken the Central Bank some time to sort out the mechanics of the payment especially given the existence of forged and out-of-date family books.

The bank has now approved the mechanism.  This includes the system whereby application forms are handed in and the money handed out while avoiding massive queues at banks.

The forms arrived by which people can apply for the payment arrived in Libya last Friday from the UAE where they had been printed.
