According to a local official, the damage was caused by an electrical fault.

The incident resulted to the disruption of communication and Internet services in the city. But local residents say there was no explanation from the telecom, Libya Phone, nor has there been any statement as to how long it would be before the problem could be fixed. [/restrict]
