US government official to join US trade delegation

The US-Libya Business Association (USLBA) has announced that the US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, Jose Fernandez, . . .[restrict]will be joining its delegation which visits Libya from April 20 – 28.

The delegation, which will go to both Tripoli and Benghazi, is to meet with senior Libyan and US government officials and representatives of the growing Libyan private sector to discuss Libya’s priorities in the reconstruction and economic development of the country.

USLBA members represents a number of major US-based companies operating in Libya, in a number sectors including energy, infrastructure, construction, agriculture, finance, telecommunications, logistics and transportation.  They include names such ConocoPhillips, Marathon and Hess (partners with the NOC in Waha Oil Company), Oxy, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Halliburton, Fluor and? General Electric.

Prime Minister Abdurrahim Al-Kib spoke on the opportunities in Libya at a USLBA business lunch in Washington during his visit there last week. [/restrict]
