Tripoli, 30 May:
The Interior Ministry is to stop and potentially impound all vehicles travelling on Libya’s roads without a number plate, . . .[restrict]it was announced today.
The move has been seen as an effort by the government to get a grip on the anarchic situation still prevailing on Libyan roads. Large numbers of vehicles continue to drive about either without number plates, or else with illegal plates, many of them foreign.
It is understood that the new rules will be applied immediately, although the government did not announce how many men or resources would be devoted to enforcing the new measures.
