Grenade thrown at Military Court building

Benghazi, 17 May:

A hand grenade was thrown on Wednesday at the Benghazi Military Building, located in the city’s Abu Hadima district. . . .[restrict]The unknown assailant managed to escape. No damage was reported.

The building which also houses the military court as well as a jail where a number of former Qaddafi regime associates are being detained.

The Vice-President of the Supreme Security Committee, Ayman Tawarghi, reported that following the attack security personnel were deployed throughout the city. He added that all prison detainees were kept under tight security control. No one had managed to escape.

The search for the attacker continues. [/restrict]
