Waddan vehicle hijack gang caught

Tripoli, 6 July:

A gang said to have been involved in hijacking and stealing vehicles on the road between Waddan and Zillah . . .[restrict]in Jufra district has been caught by forces from Waddan’s Supreme Security Committee (SSC).  According to a committee spokesman, Bashir Nawfal Ismail, four men have been arrested, three Libyans and a Nigerian.

Their method of operation was to block the road and seize any vehicle that then had to stop. The spokesman added that they were caught in posession of a stolen vehicle that had been transporting equipment and sup;lies to the oil fields near Zillah.

The four were tracked down and found several hundred kimomtres further south in the Timsah area, south east of Sebha.  They were caught with the help of Timsah military council and Al-Waw brigade. The four men are being held in custody pending an investigation and will be handed over to the public prosecutor’s office.
