Dear Editor,
While I can see that the film that is derogatory to the Prophet Muhammad would be offensive and hurtful, the . . .[restrict]anti-American violence is simply drawing global attention to a film that, most likely, would have been rarely viewed and died on the shelf within months.
Now, with all the attention the Middle East is drawing towards this film, everyone on earth is going to want to see it. The violent protests are just creating free press coverage and promotion for it.
Also, the violence is simply reinforcing the negative stereotypes of Muslims.
Not that they don’t have the right to protest or be angry, but there are other non-violent respect-inducing methods to get your point across.
These kinds of actions of violence have only been self-defeating for the Middle East.
