Tripoli, 14 October:
A Civil Aviation Authority committee was at Tobruk airport on Saturday morning to assess equipment and systems . . .[restrict]before it can be licensed as international airport. The committee checked it facilities and reviewed safety equipment and procedures.
Airport director Mohamed Manfour said that the airport’s facilities and capabilities were in no way inferior to those at any other Libyan airports, in fact, were better than many in terms of location and conditions. He believed that giving the airport international status was only a matter of time.
Manfour added that flying pilgrims to Saudi Arabia from Tobruk airport was dependent on its certification as an international airport by the Aviation Authority.
