Tripoli, 30 November:

A delegation of Belgian health experts will be visiting Libya from 1-3 December to explore avenues of cooperation with . . .[restrict]the Libyan authorities.

Several Libyans wounded in last year’s conflict are currently being treated in Belgian hospitals, “to the fullest satisfaction of both patients and authorities”, according to a statement from the Belgian embassy in Tripoli.

According to the World Economic Forum, Belgium has one of the best healthcare systems in the world, ranking 2nd out of 142 countries in the Forum’s 2011-12 Global Competitiveness Report for healthcare and primary education services.

Following on from the success of treating wounded revolutionaries, the “Healthcare Belgium” delegation will put forward a series of proposals to address both the short and mid-term needs of the Libyan population.
