A number of Sudanese academics have arrived at the university campus in Kufra on Saturday to take . . .[restrict]up teaching posts there.
The Faculty of Acts and Science in Kufra, part of Benghazi University, includes departments of English, Arabic, Zoology and Agriculture.
It is the first group of Sudanese staff to arrive at the faculty. Others are also expected shortly.
The appointment of the teacher follows an agreement last April between former Libyan Labour Minister Mustafa Rujbani and his Sudanese counterpart Farah Mustafa to recruit Sudanese professionals to work in Libya. A month ago, a team of Sudanese doctors took up posts in Obari at the local hospital and in clinics in the surrounding area.
The appointment of the professionals — doctors, academics, engineers, hotel staff and the like — is aimed at meeting a Libyan skills shortage in particular fields and locations, especially the south of the country. Obari, for example, has been experiencing severe shortages of medical staff in almost all fields.
The Kufra faculty, likewise, has been suffering staff shortages. [/restrict]
