By Hadi Fornaji.

Tripoli, 26 April 2013:

Security forces fought a running battle with a criminals who had set up bogus check-point  in . . .[restrict]Enjila near the Ben Aoun mosque in Tripoli in the early hours of this morning.

The gang had been stopping motorists, seizing their vehicles, robbing the occupants and kidnapping a driver.  A Janzour unit from the Supreme Security Committee attempted to arrest the criminals and a fire fight broke out.  Gang members then fled, leaving behind the kidnapped man.  The SSC reported that it has mounted an unsuccessful search of the neighbourhood.  However victims and eye witnesses have provided descriptions  of some of the gang members and details of their vehicles.
