Tripoli, 18 May 2013:
Angry demonstrators in Misrata have denounced plans by the Tawerghans to return to their city . . .[restrict]next month. They have instead demanded that all those from Tawergha who took part in Qaddafi’s assault of Misrata, be punished.
The demonstrators made it clear on Friday that they had taken to the streets because of the discovery of a mass grave in the Tawerghan suburb of Subkha. Their slogans and banners carried messages such as: ” Massacres committed by Tawerghans in Misrata strip them of their right to return”, “Every time a plot against the New Libya is discovered, the Tawerghan file gets re-opened” and the triumphalist chant “Misrata is greater than the tyrants who are conspiring against it”.
Some of the demonstrators expressed their surprise that Benghazi continued to house a large number of refugees from Tawergha. Some demonstrators shouted “Benghazi be free. Ask the Tawerghans to get out!” One of the demonstrators described Benghazi as “the capital of the Revolution and its pulse”. He said that he could not understand why the city had not kicked the Tawerghan refugees out. [/restrict]
