G8 leaders affirm support for Libya

Tripoli, 18 June 2103:

In their final communiqué at the end of the G8 summit today in Northern Ireland, the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK, the USA stated that they were “committed to leading international support for Libya’s security and democratic transition”.

They had earlier met with Prime Minister Ali Zeidan who attended the summit along with five other non-G8 leaders.

He had been invited by British Prime Minister David Cameron to meet with the world leaders at at the Lough Erne Resort where the two-day summit took place today and brief them on the situation in Libya.
