Tripoli, 28 November  2013:

The 9th Libyan International Award for Memorising the Holy Quran competition ended today with the Libyan entrant, 20-year-old Abdul Warith Al-Yunsi, from Tajoura, winning the first prize of LD 100,000.

The second prize – LD 80,000 – was awarded to Metwally Mohamed Sobhi of Palestine. Third came Egyptian Mohammed Saeed Abdel Kawi who goes home with LD 60,000.

A Ugandan was in fourth place, winning LD 40,000, and a Nigerean fifth, gaining LD 20,000.

Sixty-six contestants from 56 countries in Asia, Europe, America and the Arab world took part in the six-day event, which opened on Monday and held at Tripoli’s Dhat Al-Imad complex.
