Tripoli, 22 April 2014:
Justice Minister Salah Marghani has denied reports that the Jordanian ambassador to Libya has been released.
"I have no information about this," he told the Libya Herald after denying the reports, which have been published on several news networks and are circulating on social media networks.
Fawwaz Al-Eitan was abducted by armed men six days ago in Tripoli when he was on his way to work. The kidnappers are reportedly demanding the release of a Libyan prisoner, Mohamed Dersi, who is serving a life sentence in Jordan for plotting to bomb an airport.
This is the second time in 48 hours that the government has been forced to quash rumours about Eitan's release.
