Tripoli, 16 April 2014:

The National Oil Corporation . . .[restrict](NOC) has announced the discovery of another natural gas field in Ghadames Basin, 650 kilometres southwest of Tripoli.

Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach company, together with India Oil and the Indian Oil Company, made the discovery at their exploratory well 96/1-1, sunk in Contract area No 95/96, which is some 70 kilometres south of the massive Wafa gas and oilfield, operated by Mellitah Oil & Gas.

The Algerian-Indian consortium have made a number of discoveries in the concession since they resumed work in the area in June 2012.

They conducted a successful exploration for oil in the Ghadames Basin in Contract Area 65 in October 2012 and then again discovered oil and gas in Contract Area 96 in February last year. [/restrict]
