Tripoli, 23 July 2014:

American University of Libya student Oday Zentani has been chosen to represent Libya in the . . .[restrict]ninth annual Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) Apprenticeship Programme. This is the first year that Libya has been invited to participate in the programme run by by the organisers of the Dubai Shopping Festival.

The internship programme has proven a successful launchpad for past interns after  graduating university, with many securing jobs with prominent multinational companies.

Zentani and the interns will work alongside marketing professionals from the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), responsible for staging the summer festival. One of the region’s biggest tourism events, it will run from 2 August to 5 September this year.

Winners’ itineraries in the past have included placements with leading Dubai-based entities such as Emirates, Emaar Retail, MBC Group, Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Economic Department.

In his winning essay, Zentani (who uses the nickname “Eddie”) wrote of his ideas to promote the festival among families and children.

“We congratulate Eddie Zentani on becoming our first intern from Libya,” said Laila Suhail, CEO of DFRE. “The addition of Libya to the DSS Apprenticeship Programme is a significant step that underscores our vision to continually expand the scope of the internship. We are confident that Eddie will prove to be an outstanding representative of his university and country, going by his innovative ideas to promote the DSS brand as submitted in his proposal. We wish him a rewarding stay in Dubai and hope that he gains insights and experiences that will help him in the future.”
