By Noora Ibrahim.

Benghazi, 15 September 2014:

Two bodies, both believed to be members of a Benghazi unit allied with . . .[restrict]17 February Brigade have been found months after their disappearance on a beach in the south of the city.

A medical source at Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) told the Libya Herald that one of the bodies had been positively identified and further information was required for a match for the second because it was too badly decomposed.

The source said the first had been identified by his family as Waleed Kamal Al-Taweel who went missing with a fellow brigade member two months ago. The two men, members of 204 Tank Brigade, disappeared while leaving their base, close to 17 February Brigade’s sprawling central Benghazi camp, and were presumed to have been kidnapped.

However the body of the second man has appeared on first inspection by the family of Taweel’s companion not to have been their son. Medical staff are awaiting the results of a DNA test to ascertain the identity of the second man.
