Light flooding in Benghazi causes havoc with mountains of waste

Benghazi, 29 October 2014:

The first rain to fall in Benghazi since summer has caused havoc with the mountains of rubbish strewn across the city left uncollected for months.

Residents who had to deal with the appalling smell of the waste in the heat have said now in the wet the stench is just as bad. “The huge amounts of garbage that cover the streets make an awful smell and the air is hard to breathe,” one Laithi . . .
