The cabinet meeting . . .[restrict]of Prime Minister Abdullah Thinni stressed the need for Libya to pay its medical and health debts to Tunisia and Jordan.
At yesterday’s meeting in Al-Beida, the cabinet stressed the need to at least start paying part of Libya’ outstanding debts to these countries as ‘‘a sign of good faith’’. The debts are payments for the treatment of Libya’s war injured as well as the treatment of Libyan civilians.
The government stressed that it is all the more pertinent that these debts are paid in view of the need to continue receiving healthcare from the relevant hospitals in the future and in view of the fact that these healthcare providers are privately owned.
The cabinet meeting decided to form a committee to look into the debts of Jordanian healthcare providers and their rescheduling and recommending some payments in the short term, and the payment of the balance upon the availability of finances. [/restrict]
