The Thinni government has pronounced the Tripoli-based NOC as illegitimate.

Tunis, 8 April 2015:

In an aside in yesterday’s statement read out by Abdullah Thinni at the cabinet . . .[restrict]office in Al-Beida, the Prime Minister said that he ‘’assures the Libyan people that the (natural) resources (hydrocarbons) of the Libyan state, thanks to god and the heroes of Petroleum Facilities Guards, are under control’’.

With reference to his government’s announcement on Saturday that it seeks to divert all hydrocarbon revenues to the newly established NOC in eastern Libya recognized by his government and the House of Representatives (HoR), Thinni said that ‘‘the main purpose of this (decision) is the protection of the assets of the Libyan people and the decision was to confirm that the parallel NOC in Tripoli is an illegal and illegitimate’’.

‘’This is evidenced by by the fact that all the international conferences that are held abroad direct their invitations to the NOC recognized by the (HoR appointed) legitimate government’’. This is the case be it for the OPEC conference or the latest conference held in Doha’’.

‘’This shows the international recognition of the NOC that is recognized by the legitimate government’’.

‘’And what is peddled now by some biased groups that wish to create discord that these (oil) funds will be stolen – we assure everyone that as is the normal practice, the funds will be transferred through the opening of a special account from which the complete revenues will be transferred to the Central Bank of Libya under the legitimate government of Libya’’, concluded Thinni on the issue of the new NOC.
