Tripoli, 27 August 2015:

The coastal road between the 17 and 27 bridges remained closed today after one man was . . .[restrict]killed and five injured in battles between the local Janzour militia and what were described a criminal gangs.

Janzour mayor, Belaid Touba said the ten kilometre section of the A1 highway from Ras Jedir on the Tunisian border to Tripoli had been shut down to protect motorists from attack.

Touba explained that the Knights of Janzour battalion had intervened at Gate 17 to stop an assault on road users. He gave no further details and did not provide the identity of the dead and injured.
