Tripoli, 27 August 2015:

There is an unconfirmed report that the nephew of prime minister Abdullah Thinni was kidnapped outside . . .[restrict]his home in Beida today.

Abu Bahia, who is the office manager at the prime ministry, was apparently seized by unidentified gunmen in the Am Al Safsaf part of the town.

There have been no reports of any demands and as of this evening Thinni himself has made no comment on the reported abduction.

In January 2014, Thinni’s only son Muhammed was released after being held by kidnappers for for months. At the time Thinni was serving in the Zeidan government as minister of defence. Shortly after being appointed prime minister by the GNC in April 2014, Thinni announced he did not want the job because of an attack on his family home. Days later he reversed that decision.
