The historic Italian colonial era Tripoli International Fairground will be relocated to the outskirts of Tripoli as part of a new PPP project open to Libyan and foreign investors.

Malta, 1 September 2015:

Tripoli’s new international trade fair ground, to be located in the Ghoat Busag area located . . .[restrict]about 20 km on the south western outskirts of the capital, will be a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project, the government has revealed.

The new vehicle for the yet-to-be-built fair complex will be an ‘’investment company’’ between the state, the Libyan private sector and a foreign investor, the brief government statement revealed.

The revelation came at the Abdullah Thinni led government cabinet meeting held today in the eastern city of Al-Beida during which the Ministry of Economy was authorized to proceed with the new investment company.

The decision to relocate Tripoli’s main international trade fair established in the 1930’s from the heart of Tripoli to its outskirts was taken during the Qaddafi regime as the current historic location was deemed too small and with inadequate facilities, including parking. [/restrict]
