Tunis, 29 December 2015:

A cross-section of social groups representing the city of Zawia declared their support yesterday for . . .[restrict]the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) and its Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Prime Minister-designate Faiez Serraj that was signed in Skhirat, Morroco on 17th December 2015.

The Zawia social groups said that they were in full support of the GNA and in a government of strong institutions, a state of law and equality.

They called upon the GNA to urgently form its government and to be based in Libya’s capital Tripoli. This GNA must be, they insisted,  an independent government free from regional or party politics.

They also called upon it to keep controversial personnel in the army (taken to mean eastern-based LNA Commander -in-Chief Khalifa Hafter) away from politics and from the national army.
