Ghat/Tripoli, 10 January 2016:

Fresh fighting broke out in the troubled southern oasis town of Obari today . . .[restrict]between Tuareg and Tebu forces. Four people are reported to have been killed and five wounded when a Tebu militia launched what is reported to have been a heavy attack in the town.

It coincided with talks starting in Sebha between representatives of the two communities on implementing the agreement signed in November brokered by the Qataris.

The clashes as well as attacks on the town’s civilian population have been condemned by the Presidency Council led by prime minister-designate Faiez Serraj. In a statement calling on both sides to respect the agreement, it said that violence could only inflame the conflict.
