Misratan member of the House of Representatives Mohamed Raied is reported to have been seized . . .[restrict]by a group of militiamen in Torbuk while on his way to the airport to catch a flight to Tripoli today.

It is reported that the group want Misrata to free two brother from Tobruk who were arrested there allegedly for drugs dealing. A Sudanese is also said to have been detained with them

Raied, who heads the successful, Misrata-based Al-Nasseem yogurt and ice-cream company, is said to have been able to call colleagues to inform them of the situation and assure them he was unharmed.

Local Tobruk elders are now in contact with the abductors and the family of the two brothers, trying to gain his freedom. Th family are said to be demanding, at the very least, that the two be tranferred to a jail nearer Tobruk.

Raeid, previously a boycotting member of the HoR, had gone to Tobruk on Monday along with nine others to join the parliament to vote in favour of the Libyan Political Agreement.

The other former boycotters who went to Tobruk are reported safe.

HoR officials have expressed their outrage but point out that the kidnapping has nothing to do with the political process. [/restrict]
