Tripoli and Tunis, October 16 2017:
The Rada (Deterrence) force is claiming to have disrupted a planned mercenary attack in Tripoli and arrested two of the plotters.
The details remain sketchy. However Rada has said that an armed group including 120 Sudanese members of their country’s Justice and Equality Movement had arrived at a camp in Warshefana after having first clashed with security forces in Ghariyan.
In circumstances that are unclear, two leaders of the armed group were captured by Rada. Photographs of Mabruk Juma Sultan Ahnish, nicknamed “Alwadi” and Rifqa Al-Sudani were posted on the Rada social media site.
The group was allegedly planning to seize key entry points into the capital. Rada has claimed that the mercenaries were acting on behalf of local Qaddafi supporters who had been working with them from inside Tripoli under the banner of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Libya.
Rada said that the group had refused to hand over their weapons and surrender but it did not explain what had since happened to them.
