London, 18 April 2018:
Libya’s much delayed 2018 budget has been referred to the Central Bank of Libya and the Audit Bureau for final approval by the Faiez Serraj-led Presidency Council, Serraj’s personal spokesperson Mohamed El-Sallak confirmed yesterday.
Speaking at the weekly press conference (delayed to Tuesday due to Serraj’s late arrival from the Arab League Summit in Saudi) Sallal said ‘‘With regard to the Financial Arrangements (the 2018 Budget), the Presidential Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, had finalized the Financial Arrangements for the year 2018, and it was referred to the Central Bank and the Audit Bureau last Thursday, for final approval, in accordance with the (procedures of) the Libyan Political Agreement’’.
Sallak anticipated that the two stakeholders would complete processing the budget ‘‘during this week’’.
It will be recalled that at last weeks press conference Sallak had promised that the 2018 budget would be ready this week.
