London, 22 April 2018:

The Italian-Libyan Business Development Association was launched at the Waddan hotel in Tripoli last Thursday, organizers informed Libya Herald.

The launch event was attended by Deputy head of the Presidency Council, Ahmed Maetig, Italian ambassador Giuseppe Perrone, Italian Member of Parliament Castiglia Kalid (the first Member of the Italian Parliament of Maghrebi origin), Tripoli Municipality, the mayor of Zliten, the Libyan Business Council, the NOC, GECOL, as well as a number of business representatives from both Libya and Italy.

The Italian business representatives, it is to be noted, made a trip to Tripoli specifically for the launch event.

The aim of the ILBDA, organizers explained, was to activate Libyan-Italian commercial and economic relations to further the bilateral interests of the two countries.

Some of the Italian participants commented that despite the country’s political stalemate, Tripoli had started to safely smile to its visitors as they roamed through its markets and illuminated streets welcoming visitors and moving forward, building the country with confidence and determination.

The Libyan Deputy head of the Association, Ashraf Tulty, said that a series of events will be held between Italian and Libyan business representatives, starting with a business event in Tripoli on 5 July.
